AININ - Right Here Right Now - Greenfields Kin Kin

Title; Ruff
Materials are not neutral and sites are not blank. We are drawn between these thresholds: where the known and unknown fray. In this line of tension; provocation, intervention and capitulation we find fertile ground. Here, making is no longer about imposing but slipping into co-authorship with place. We are shaped as much as we shape the slow language of presence and thresholds that gesture toward elsewhere. It resists easy definition, asking many more questions than answers, disrupting, reverberating what the site and the material interloper offer. To dwell in uncertainty. To allow contradiction and trust that what is visible is an unfolding temporary conversation with all of the above!

Corrie on Collaboration

Passionately affiliated with collaboration I would like to call attention to several layers of thought one that connects us to why we pursue life’s questions of how we fit and why that matters. Collaboration for me considers all parts of the whole process. Because of this I would like to suggest that to understand art it would help if we are not separate to the artistic process nor is it singularly or distant from the artist or the audience. Participation in collaborative art in my mind is an inclusive approach and remains open to interpretation by many. I think today we seek from art insight and illumination not necessarily information and guidance on how we should think or behave. As artist or audience you will engage with the work on your own terms. These will respond to the conditioning of our times and the place in which we are living.
It seems to me that collaborators are boundary crossers they often reject either or choices they would rather seek multiply options and blended solutions. This combines the search for meaning from external circumstance and internal will by bringing experiences to the surface.
The collaborative artist is possible rendered less majestic but also more accessible, maybe even better able to reveal creative insight as a human capacity rather than a divine gift. This could easily come about by sharing complimentary skills that engage to create a shared knowledge one that had not been previously understood or would have come about on its own. Collaboration is not always an easy relationship it requires deep dependency and trust relying on honesty, integrity and effective communication. The work then activates parts of these contacts that come from experience. Joining the dots when you only have the outcome of the artwork requires time and effort. Artists are adept at leaving clues in layers that give meaning and relevance to their process.

How many glues does it take to glue a few hundred drops?

The drama of the gluing process!
We are down to the pointy end of business with only a few sleeps to go and we have struck our first real hurdle GLUES
There are so many right but in my experience you are not always doing what they say you should do and generally it is a straight forward process gluing same to same! but we are visual artists and the rules are different we want anything to stick to anything and QUICKLY!!
The problem being we needed transparent clear glues and yes there is a lot on the market araldite worked but was messy and hard to handle and was not UV stable so would turn yellow. Weldbond was another option it worked too but because it was sandwiched between cast resin and Perspex it didn’t dry. Phone calls to various sources gave us enough information about glues for a life time. A trip to Caloundra to ASAP Plastics gave us the glue Acrifix specially for Perspex but would it work on cast resin? Well it did BUT it trapped bubbles between layers which caused it to look cloudy + it needed UV light to cure it. More testing more glue this time trying plumbers glue same deal as Weldbond. More testing 5am!!! It turned out that it was not the glue that mattered but how you applied it. Acrifix was used successfully (so far, the works not out there yet!!) and the bubbles were alleviated by applying thin layers with a brush.
